I have been enjoying driving off-road for many years mostly from necessity having always lived in the country. It was very useful in the Hang Gliding days as it was hard work climbing mountains in Wales on foot carrying a glider weighing about 40lbs. A much easier method was to press the Range Rover into service and ride in air conditioned comfort to the top. The only arguments arose when deciding who would forgo the flight and ferry the car back to the bottom, I always knew when the going was getting a bit hairy as my passengers would all decide to stretch their legs and walk. A few seasons of 4X4 competition followed driving in trials which was great fun and put some more trophies in the cabinet.
Being professionally involved now means I welcome a change and horse riding fits the bill. At Thruxton we have a purpose built off-road course which is designed to enable the beginner driver to acquire the basic skills to drive safely and enjoyably off-road. We do a 3hr. course which costs £99 and it covers things like, hill climbing and descending, negotiating water, axle articulation, approach angles, rampover and departure angles, the aim is to send people away with a good grounding in the use of 4x4's and enable them if they own such a vehicle to make the most of their purchase.
I would recommend that you take a look at our Company website. This will give you more detail and enable you to book yourself in for a half day course. I look forward to seeing you and can guarantee a thrilling, off-road experience.
